Trans-disciplinary MSc (In development)

For far too long the model of higher education has been focused on producing specialists and technicians and professionals who are highly skilled in their particular field of expertise, yet unable to draw links between and move across disciplines.

One of the reasons for this current state of affairs is the gradual waning of generalist studies, in which bright young minds with the requisite academic and intellectual horsepower are put through rigorous training in what the mediævals termed the Trivium and Quadrivium – in this modern day and age, translatable into Grammar, Logic, Rhetoric, Philosophy, History and Anthropology.

The key argument for the setting up of this Centre is that without a return to a structure similar to the mediæval Universitas, we are forever doomed to produce siloed specialists, even within the fields of the arts.
